Benoît Lahaye is one of Champagne’s leading biodynamic pioneers, cultivating five hectares of vineyards in Bouzy—one of the Montagne de Reims’ most prestigious Grand Cru villages. Since 2003, the domaine has been fully organic, and in 2009, it transitioned to biodynamic viticulture, using natural treatments like plant infusions, copper, sulfur, and essential oils. The estate also employs horses to plow the vineyards, enhancing soil aeration and biodiversity.

This Blanc de Noirs is sourced primarily from the Vaux Bétins and Raies Tortues parcels in Bouzy, where old Pinot Noir vines thrive in chalky limestone soils. Hand-harvested grapes undergo gentle pressing and are vinified in oak barrels with indigenous yeasts. Aged on fine lees for 10 months in barrel before secondary fermentation in bottle, the wine is then left to mature slowly in the cellar. The cuvée was disgorged in April 2023, with a low Extra Brut dosage of under 5 g/L, preserving its freshness and pure expression of terroir.

In the glass, this Blanc de Noirs reveals a golden hue with fine, persistent bubbles. Aromas of red berries, ripe pear, and citrus zest are layered with subtle notes of toasted brioche, almond, and wet chalk. The palate is structured and vinous, offering depth, tension, and a long mineral-driven finish. A Champagne of great personality and complexity, it pairs beautifully with seafood, roasted poultry, or aged cheeses. Best served at 10–12°C.
