Trás-os-Montes
Trás-os-Montes, located in northeastern Portugal, is a land of contrasts where ancient winemaking traditions meet rugged terrain. The region’s three sub-regions—Chaves, Valpaços, and Planalto Mirandês—each offer unique microclimates and soil compositions that shape their wines. Indigenous grape varieties like Bastardo, Tinta Roriz, and Malvasia Fina yield robust reds and aromatic whites with a distinctive character.
Winemakers here honor centuries-old practices while integrating sustainable approaches, such as organic farming and traditional granite lagar fermentation. This blend of innovation and heritage ensures that Trás-os-Montes remains an essential part of Portugal’s wine story.
Picotes Palhete
This is a wine from Trás-os-Montes made from the combined fermentation of white and red grapes, with notes of red fruit and spices. Produced with century-old vines and manually, they must have brief contact with the skins (about 4 days) to preserve freshness and minerality. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for about 9 months.

Alpondras
These grapes were sourced from a centenary vineyard located 100 meters from the right margin of the Tâmega river in the Trás-os-Montes region, near the town of Vidago. Here the traces of the past are everywhere. A two thousand year old roman bridge crossing the river nearby. Monasteries from the 11th and 12th century as well as traces of history from two hundred years of the Kingdom of the Suebi. A Germanic tribe who controlled Galiza and Northern Portugal (from the 5th to the 7th Century).
